Once upon a time, 24/7 government monitoring would have been considered impossible. Now, with the technological advances of the 20th and 21st centuries, it has become all too clear that it is, in fact, possible. Yet, peope still believe in and trust their governments. They believe that they will protect them from harm. Humans, by nature, trust their governments blindly to the end of the earth, cannot possibly believe that they were being watched, and would possibly let the governments gain too much control and completely run their lives.
